First, you should know this: I get a lot of mail.
Whether it's from the Community Forum, comments on my site, or direct email, it's a lot to deal with.
Believe it or not, I do have a life that isn't just about being online. So please don't take it personally if I don't reply back. I just can't get around to everyone and still stay semi-sane.
But here are some things you should know before you contact me:
- I work for Six Apart, and part of my responsibilities include answering questions for our licensees, and occasionally, over on the Movable Type Forum. The key words here are over on. Over there, not here. My personal website and email box aren't an extension of that role, regardless of what I write about here. They are not to be used as an alternate means of asking me support questions. Unless your question is about an entry I wrote in my Tips blog, or something else related to my site, please post your questions to the forum.
- Once you contact me, it's mine. Now, I'm a reasonable person - I'm generally not going to reveal to the world what you've said to me. And if you're just being nice, you probably don't have much to worry about. But if you ask me something that I'd like to share with other people who I rely upon for their knowledge or opinions, someone else just might see your words. And if you say something downright nasty, tacky, creepy, or insulting, then you've just invited me to reveal your true nature at my discretion. Play nicely with me, and I'll play nicely with you.
- Am I available for consulting work? Possibly, depends on what it is. Will I violate the Movable Type licensing agreement to do it? Not on your life.
- Just want to say "Hi", or tell me I'm wonderful? Please do. I love flattery as much as the next woman. =)
