Lynda at So Very Posh offers this hack for adding automatic smilies, text, or URLs to your posts and comments.
Now I just need to find some smilies!!

hey.. livejournal.com has tons of smilies available for their users... i noticed a bunch at http://www.mysmilies.com too... you might have already found something, but i thought i'd mention it. :)

Erm..I need help on this one...could anyone make the hack work? If you could, just mail me please, becasue I've followed the instructions, and it still messes up. I'm ver confused.
Err.. I installed the clickable comments at 10500bc.org but am having a bit of trouble with them. Every time I click on a smilie, the code (ie. :angry) appears in the Extended Entry. If I remove extended entry (through the cuztomization link) it move to key words. It keep on moving to a new field whenever I remove the field it currently enters. I've gone down to just the entry body, but then nothing happens. I wouldn't have too much of a problem manually typing, but if anyone knows the cause and/or what I could do to fix it, I would greatly appreciate it.
on the edit_entry.tmpl find this code:
function insertSmilies (v) {
document.forms[2].elements[6].focus();
document.selection.createRange().text = v;
}
then just change elements[6] to elements[5]
that should work.
